"When the last of the flames guttered, the skies grew still. When our laments died, and the children's cries echoed away, what remained was silence. A silence that was louder than the clash of steel, and deeper than our grief. And that silence, that silence almost unmade me.

The Valyrian Freehold was brought low, not by its enemies, but by the weight of its own hungers. Cities fell, the sky burned, and its truths turned to ash.

In scattered strongholds, those who survived the unmaking carry its shadow. Not to mourn it, but to measure themselves against it. The survivors did not inherit the empire; we inherited its consequences. In Oros and Mantarys, in Elyria, the old rites are still spoken behind closed doors. In Dorona, the earth still murmurs. The sky whispers along the Tolosian Black Cliffs, and to Lopor, the soft water flows dreamlike and serene. And the flame? The flame, though broken, answers still.

What was lost will never return. What was loosed cannot be bound again. And yet, the world moves forward, warped by what it endured. The fires of the Freehold may have burned themselves out, but the wounds they left behind still bleed into every corner of Essos.

The Age of Valyria has ended.

The Bleeding Years have begun."

A note on dating conventions: For the purposes of this project, the Doom of Valyria is treated as the singular turning point in historical chronology. All historical references will follow the standardized dating system of Before Doom (B.D.) and After Doom (A.D.), which reflects the immense cultural, magical, and geopolitical rupture caused by that cataclysmic event.
